It's true, folks! Our short film, facedancing, directed by Gina Hirsch, has just received its first official acceptance to a film festival. We hope for more success to follow, but in the meantime we are over the moon that our film will play in the beloved and charming metropolis of Baltimore, the hometown of Glass Contraption founder and performer, Justine Williams. The festival runs from May 5th - 8th, so if you are in the area, check it out! More details coming soon.

We are assembling a fantastical line up of bands, comic dancers, funny people and filmmakers for The Triumphs and Disasters of Human Existence Presented to You, the good people of Brooklyn and the surrounding boroughs!, an evening of comedy, music, theater, film and “new vaudeville”, celebrating the highest highs and lowest lows of human experience.

Emceed by comedian/performer, Drae Campbell, the night will feature the musical stylings of NY-based banjo driven folk rock band, Tall Tall Trees (with singer/songwriter Mike Savino, guitarist Kyle Sanna, bassist Benjamin Campbell, and eccentric percussionist Mathias Kunzli) and the old-timey band, The Wiyos. Featuring front-man Michael Farkas, The Wiyos are renowned for their vintage sound and vaudevillian stage antics.

The night will also highlight clown-inspired performances by yours truly, The Glass Contraption; a “sermon” by comedian and amateur love doctor, Jason Quarles, who will be dispensing love advice; a series of short comic films by award-winning video artist, Shannon Plumb (www.shannonplumb.com); a world premiere screening of a new short film created and performed by The Glass Contraption and directed/edited by Gina Hirsch (You Move Me), and more!

TGC receives a development residency at The Orchard Project

The Glass Contraption leaves for the fancy-pants Orchard Project on June 27th to continue work on our latest show, "Not for the Faint of Heart", an exploration into secrets and confessions, revelations, inner worlds and the difficulty of being vulnerable in front of other people. What kind of tree will we grow while at the Orchard Project? Will it be a shrub, a maple or a mighty spruce? Check out all the exciting artists and projects that will also be developing new work at the OP this summer...we can't wait to make some new friends.
